Hydroflex Technology Wins Innovation Award for the Supercharger Surfboard

OCEANSIDE, Dec. 12, 2011 -- Hydroflex Technology LLC has been awarded the 2011 24th annual Most Innovative New Product "MIP" Award in the Action & Sport category by CONNECT. The company was awarded for the Hydroflex Supercharger surfboard. The unique product is the first surfboard on the market with adjustable flex patterns. "We're glad to be recognized as this year's leading innovator in the Action & Sports Technologies category by CONNECT," says CEO Sven Brauers.

With the Supercharger by Hydroflex Technology, the flex of the board can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of compressed air within the surfboard. By connecting the adaptor and pump to the valve, you can pump compressed air into, thus stiffening, the board and giving it less flex. To allow the board to have more flex, you simply press down on the needle in the valve with your finger to release air out. This allows the surfer to find their own optimal level of flex for the conditions, as opposed to boards that do not feature adjustable flex.

A fringe benefit is that the outward pressure expels any water that might otherwise be absorbed if the board is dinged or cracked in the water. The Supercharger surfboards are made from stringer-less EPS blanks and epoxy resin, but with a patented 3 dimensional glassing. The glassing anchors the fiberglass and epoxy resin laminate into the foam core, creating a root like structure, which greatly increases bonding strength and prevents delaminating.

Advantages include: Optimal flexibility and acceleration, high strength to weight ratio, no delams, and fewer breaks and buckles, completely customizable shapes and glassing, easy to repair and fully recyclable.

More than 140 products were nominated for the awards."This award underscores the impact that the Hydroflex Technology will have on the surfboard market. We would like to thank our employees, customers, surfboard shapers, supporters and CONNECT who braught our Tech to this level," says CEO Sven Brauers. The awards ceremony was held on December 9, 2011 at Hilton Torrey Pines, and attracted more than 850 of San Diego's business leaders, researchers and capital providers. CONNECT is regarded as the world's most successful regional program linking inventors and entrepreneurs with the resources they need for success.
